Annual Report For the Year 2016-2017

A very good morning to you all.

I take great pleasure in welcoming all of you on this special occasion of our Annual Day. This event gives a great opportunity to highlight the achievements accomplished by the school in this session. I am privileged to undertake this pleasant duty of presenting the report of all the activities undertaken during the academic session 2016-17 and  feel proud to say that our school has once again excelled  in academics as well as in co-curricular activities.

It gives me immense pleasure to present before you a brief report of the activities and achievements of A.J.de Almeida High School, Ponda for the year 2016-17.

Our school has 2412 students 125 teaching and non-teaching staff. 446 students appeared for the Goa Board Examination 2015-16 out of which 43 scored above 90%, 201 passed with distinction, 170 with first class, 69  second class, 2 Pass class, 4 under compartment. Who passed in supplementary exam conducted in June.  The overall passing percentage is 99.10%.

Miss. Neha Mahesh Dessai stood first in the school scoring 98.67%,                     Miss. Vaidehi Pradeep Naik 2nd with 98.17% , Miss. Ekta Sinwant Goel 3rd  Mast. Pranav Srinath Kaushik 4th and Miss Sadiccha Santosh Naik 5th all with 96.17% .

These students along with other toppers were felicitated by G.V.M at the hands of Dr. Madhusudan Sawaikar.

Miss. Anushree Ashish Pai Raikar got 100% in social Science.

Miss. Ruchi Bipin Mishra , Miss. Ramya S.V. Mohanan,. Arya Arun Gauns, Anisha Dinesh Kalekar & Sadiccha Santosh Naik scored 100 % in Mathematics.

Neha , Ramya , Priyanka, Ruchi, Shrusti, Ekta, Shivani Madhu Naik,  Nehali Gopalkrishna Kavlekar, scored 98% in Sanskrit highest at the Board.

The Subject teachers of these students were also felicitated by Rajhans vitaran.

This excellent result would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of my teachers. I would like to appreciate the efforts of my teachers and the hard work of the students.

We at Almeida High School strive hard to ensure the all-round development of the children through various activities To boost talent in the students and to bring out their all-round development. We have various clubs in our school which function throughout the year. These clubs were inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Shridhar Kamat Bambolkar, retired teacher & Shri V.P. Lawande retired H.M. 

Our students have participated in various competitions and have won accolades for the school.  In science seminar organized by SCERT Porvorim, Miss Nidhi Shanbag secured 1st place at Zonal level and 1st Consolation at State level.

She was also honourned with the title “Budding scientist of India” and her idea on sustainable Development in environmental Science was selected as the Best idea of budding scientist of India competition organized by Vibrant Skill set solution.

Miss. Nidhi Shanbag Yvraj Singh & Vidhi Shet as a team secured 2nd place at All Goa Science Fair organized by NIT.

Nidhi Shanbhag, Anshu Naik & Miss. Kunjal Anklekar along with teachers Mrs. Meena Kamat & Mrs. Romana Crasto presented their project at the Innovation Challenge at pune University organized by NITI Aayog and I am very much happy and proud to tell you all that our school is one among 257 schools from India to be selected to establish Atal Tinkring Laboratory in our school. Under this scheme we will get a grant of  twenty lakhs to establish and maintain the lab from NITI Ayog Govt. of India.

Anshu Naik secured 1St place at Zonal level and represented at State Level in Mathematics Seminar conducted by All Goa Mathematics Teacher’s Association.

As in academics our students are good in Music dance, sports or other activities too.

We secured 1st Prize in All Goa Folk dance comp organized by Symbiosis school shiroda and 2nd in group dance by Lokvishwas Pratistan.

Antruj Ghudyo organizes Bhurgyancho Kalamel everyyear in which various competitions are conducted. I am proud to announce that this is our 2nd continuous year of winning overall Trophy for standing 1st in all competitions.

Chowgule College also organizes similar competitions under the title Navankur Kalamahotsav and we won the Rolling trophy & prizes for standing 1st.

In singing competition organized by Kamakshi Higher Secondary we won 1st place and 3rd in competition by Chinmay Mission.

Ministry of Human Resource & Development  New Delhi and Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Goa had  organized Kala Utsav at district and state level where in our students got selected at district level to participate at state level in Music, dance & Visual art and I am happy to announce that visual art got 1st place & represented the state at Delhi.

Directorate of Art & Culture organizes talent search competition every year in which our students Lianne Fonseca got 2nd Place for Vocal western, Prathamesh Naik 3rd for harmonium, Prasiddhi Raikar 3rd for Monolouge Shlok Zambrekar 1st for key board,

 Joshua Lobo 1st for Violin, Miss. Priya Pujari 2nd for Bharat Natyam, Vidhi Shet 1st & Santosh Kadam 2nd for drawing ,

Niraj Zambrekar 1st & Edris Pereira 2nd for Guitar, Ketaki Athalekar 1st & Khushi Naik 2nd for Kathak. Ketaki secure 1st at state level.

Sanskrit is taught as a third language in the school and I feel proud to say that many of our students have won prizes in various compatitions. 1st place for state level Sanskrit singing competition organized by SCERT, Porvorim.

Shankar Pathshala organized Subhashit Pathantar competition and Anshu Hari Naik & Sania Saraf won 1st & consolation respectitvely  and Prasaddhi Raikar & Avani Jambhale won 1st & 2nd respectively under Snior & Junior category. Prasiddhi also won 3rd place at state level.

In Sanskrit drama organized by Institute Menezes Braganza we secured 3rd place.

In Bhagavat Geeta Pathantar spardha organized by Chinmay mission POnda Rasika Joshi secured 3rd prize & well represent Ponda Taluka at Margao on 25th December. Same comp. organized by Shrikrishna Sounsthan Concolim Mast. Rushab Priolkar secure 3rd place at state level

In story telling competition organized by Sane Guruji Kathamala , Avani Jambhale secured 1st prize & Prasiddhi Raikar 3rd Prize.

Anagha Vachasundar Pratisthan  also organizes various competitions.

In elocution Gayatri Kadam got 2nd place, Anshu Naik was awarded as Pradnyavant Vidyarthini and in story telling Prasiddhi Raikar got 1st place . She also secured 3rd prize in telling story from Mahabharat.

Gomantak Marathi Bhasha Parishad organized Elocution competition in which Veena Korde won 1st place & Gayatri Kadam 3rd. Gayatri also won 1st prize in Sanskrit elocution.

In the story telling competition organized by Shenoy Goybab Miss. Sharvi Sardessai secured 1st & 2nd  at stste level Soham Khandeparkar 2nd & prasiddhi raikar 1st in junior & Riddhi Naik 2nd place. In the elocution competition organized by various institution following students secured prizes .

  • Anshu Naik 2nd place at State Level by Goa State commission
  • . Nitya Kamat 2nd Consolation at state level organized by Directorate of Health.
  • Nidhi Kamat 1st place at State Level by Monovikas High School and 1st Place as Orator of Goa by Rotary Club of Panaji

Nidhi kamat & Shreya Pai secured 1st place as a team at All Goa Elocution competition by Holy Cross Institution.

Our members of Quiz club brought laurels to the school. Anjinkya Sawkar & Anish Dhaimodkar secured 1st place in Bhatikar Model quiz , 1st place in quiz by MG Party ponda, 2nd in Yuva de Goa quiz, 3rd place in Quiz by Aeronautical Society of Goa.

Anshu Naik & Anish Dhaimodkar got 1st prize in quiz by Rangmel Bandora, Ajinkya Sawkar & Rudra Upasani secured 3rd place in quiz by Ganesh Mandal Sanguem.

Krutik Patel  & Anish Dhaimodkar secured 2nd place in quiz by Miracles High School , Anish Dhaimodkar & Rajay  Kholhapurkar 3rd place by SEQC & Goa International Centre.

In All Goa Vedic Maths test Parth T Naik secured 1st & Saniya Nadkarni 11th rank in V –VII category & Sumesh Gaude 1st Amey Tilgul 6th & Gaurav Madkaikar, 9th rank in VIII to X category & overall our school got 2nd place.

In Maharashtra Talent Search Exam, Amey Tilgul, Nitya Kamat, Gaurav Madkaikar, Ekta Goel, Anushree Pai Raikar & Shivtaman Pal Secured ranks in Goa.

In MCT organized by All Goa Maths teachers Association from std VII sunaina Debsikdar stood 6th Ekta Nabar 7th vrudhhi Sangaonkar 8th , from std VIII Amey Tilgul 1st , Nidhi Shanbhag 3rd & Anshu Naik 5th, Rajay Kolhapurkar 6th & from Std  X arjun Jagdish 5th, Aniksha Mayekar& Shivatman Pal & Anushree Pai Raikar 12th.

Vidhi Shet was awarded as Samrat student of the year 2015-16 for her excellence in academic & Co-curricular activities. She was also awarded 1st prize for poster & drawing competitions organized by

She was awarded 2nd prize in Greeting Card Design by Bal Bhavan Goa. She was also awarded 2nd prize at National level in poster competition organized by upgrade connect & I proudly announce  that her poster titled Swatch Bharat is to be presented to Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Tejas Desai was awarded the following prizes for Poster & Drawing competition.

  • 1st prize by GSUDA
  • 1st conciliation by BJP
  • 1st Conciliation by Jaywant Tyres

Santosh Kadam is the recipient of the following prizes in Poster & drawing compeitios

1st  in competition organized by Goa on Wheels.

2nd in organized by Ponda Muncipal Council, BJP Mahila Morcha, Sanskar Bharati, 3rd in organized by Directorate of Art & Culture & by Mashel Kala Premee.

Our Managemant Goa Vidyaprasarak Mandal also organizes many compeitions for all institution run by them where each and every student gets an opportunity to participate. These competitions inculcate leadership qualities, Orator Ship reading habits promptness & hidden talent in students.

This year Nitya Kamat was awarded as GVM’s Orator at VIII –X level ,

 Ridhi Priolkar & Leanne Fonseca won 1st & 2nd prizes at V-VII category in Voice of GVM,

 The teams Rudra Upasani & Ayushman Naik secured 1st place , Rajay Kolhapurkar & Kshitij Naik 2nd & Sahil Parab & Nirzar Panvelkar 3rd palce in GVM’s Quiz.

In the talent search exam organized by GVM for std VIII,  Amey Tilgul stood 1st , Anish Dhaimodkar 2nd , Nidhi Shanbag 3rd , Kunjal Anklekar 4th , Anshu Naik 5th Anisha Nagarsekar 6th, Suyash Sawant 7th & Apoorva Pimprikar 8th among all the students of the 5 schools of GVM.

Our scout Guide Investiture Ceremony for students of std VI was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Dattatray Naik.

 Petrol leadership camp organised by All Goa Scout & Guide Association at Simbiosis High School Shiroda was attended by our IX std students with teachers.

Students selected Road Safety Petrol.

Installation of houses and school cabenet under the leadership of teacher Carmelina , Teacher Sadhana & our P.E. teachers was conducted at the hands of Shri Ram Asre, P.I. & Nilam Mayekar , APEO for morning and Mrs. Sunita SDawant S.P. for evening session.

Career Guidance Club of our school organized a talk by Mr. Ishan Shetye on Study & Career opportunities abroad for students of std X & Smart Move organized a workshop for the parents & students of Std X.

As an awareness programme the discipline committee of our school organized a talk on “ Save your Innocence” for the students of std Xth conducted by our Teacher Carmelina Rodrigues & School Councilor Taqdees Sayyed.

Talks & workshops were also arranged for the teachers of our school

Talk by Swami Nikhileshwaranand on peace of Mind by GVM.

Talk Anna Neena George on Relevance of education in the 21st Century.

Talk by Mrs. Anita Kavalekar on Garbage Disposal & Wormi compost.

Like students we also have a talented, resourceful and hardworking staff.

Our teacher Mrs. Amita Talaulikar & mr. Pravin Concar worked as resource persons in Science for the workshops to Ponda teachers organized by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

Mr. Pravin Concar has also worked as a resource person for the workshop for Science teacher of Std IX X org by SCERT.

Bindiya Naik worked as resource persons for Art & Craft Workshop by Rotary Club of Ponda New Generation.

Rotary Club of Panaji organized Orator of Goa Competition for teacher Mrs. Suvidha Kadkade secured 2nd conciliation.

MIBK High School organized story telling competition for teachers of GVM & Mr. Pravin Sane Secured 2nd Prize & Mrs. Dhi Madkaikar 1st Consolation.

In State level western India fair for Mrs. Sadhana Dessai Secured 5th prize in Science Fair in making model of teaching Aid organized by Science centre.

Scholastic Publication New Delhi organized a 3 days book exhibition in our auditorium where in our students got a chance to scan buy books in various subjects.

A healthy mind needs a healthy body and this is practiced by our students by excelling on the sports ground too. This year we have done extremely well in different sports events at Taluka district, state and National levels.

In Badminton, girls U14 won the Taluka , District & stood 3rd at the State Level.

It gives me immense pleasure to announce that for last 9 yrs our girls team is winning state championship.

Boys & girls U14 & U 17 yrs won many medals in Khelo India organized by SAG.

Miss. Manjushri Raut won many medals at state level & will represent 41st Interstate Interzonal and Junior National Badminton Championship at Udupi Karnataka.

Siya Kakodkar & Yasmin Sayyad represented the National held at Vijaywada A.P.

In swimming,  boys & girls U-14 yrs won the Taluka , District & State level Championship . They also won medals in Swimming by khelo India & represented at the Nationals & I proudly announce that Mast. Anurag Singh won the bronze medal at the national level.

Our students have excelled in archery too. Our girls U14 & U17 will participate in the state level competition and six of our students have already represented at the national.

In Skipping Miss. Gargi Vasta Participated at District Level. In Cricket,  our boys Salil Korde, Nigam Tari,  Krutik Patel & Atharv Sinai Mopkar represented Goa At National Level Organised by BCCI.

In Baseball our boys Anuj Naik & Abhishek VR represented the school National Games held at Delhi organized by DSYA.

In Taekwando also our boys & girls won the medals at Taluka , District & State levels, Mast. Yash Shirodkar won the silver medal at the State level organized by DSYA.

In Judo, Labh Tilve won 1st place at taluka, District and State level organized by DSYA & represented at the nationals.

In basketball by DSYA,  boys U-17 won taluka level & will represent at District level.

In Netball G Sai Rohit, Nikhil Jaktop & Pratik Naik represented the state at nationals held at Chhathisgarh.

In Kabaddi by DSYA boys U-14 won taluka , district & are qualified for state level. Mast. Dakshat Patil represented Nationals in MP.

In Chess org by DSYA boys U14 won 1st place at taluka & 3rd at District level. Girls U-14 won Gold Medal at Taluka, District & State Level. Varada Amonkar participated in All Goa FIDE Chess tournament.

Boys U-17 won Taluka, District & are 2nd at state level. Mast. Gaurav Madkaikar, Aston Dias & Milind Gawas represented the state at nationals.

In Yoga our girls represented at Taluka level. In athletics our boys & girls won medals at Taluka level & are qualified for district level.

1st in March Past Competition organized by Samrat Club on 26th Jan 2016.

In March Past organised by DSYA we stood 2nd in Ponda.

Our school has a well-equipped Life Skill Resource Room for children with severe disabilities which is functioning very successfully.

The children under the able guidance of the teachers are actively participating in various activities and also enjoy celebrating festivals.

We celebrated various National days and festivals with joy and fervour and had organized various competitions in which children participated in large number.

The remarkable achievement of our school was possible due to the encouragement, support and guidance of our healthy management, parents, students, teaching & Non teaching  staff and well wishers.

I sincerely thank the PTA members and the members of the managing committee of our school for all the support extended to the school and wish that they will continue to support in small and big endeavors in future.

My sincere thanks to Dr. Anil Gaunekar  and staff from District Hospital Ponda for giving the benefit of Medical care for our needy students.

I also thank the traffic cell Ponda for providing traffic police everyday to control the traffic near our school in the morning, afternoon & evening.

My special thanks to all the members of Almeida Family who have retired from this institution for their support and inspiration.

We will ever remember them with love and gratitude.

On behalf of all Almeida members, I take this opportunity to assure the society to impart the quality education.
